Although some US industries are still struggling, the restaurant industry seems to be booming.  The newly renovated Hugo’s restaurant in downtown Portland, Maine is a great example.  The new owners have recently renovated the restaurant and have been receiving rave reviews from the Boston Globe, Food & Wine, and Opinionated about Dining.  We recently supplied Victor Plourde–furniture maker–with reclaimed red birch slabs that were crafted into tables for the restaurant.  Victor combined the clean fine grain of birch with inlaid steel straps to give the tables a unique and rustic feel.  If you’re in Portland, we recommend a visit to Hugo’s, but make sure to make a reservation….
